Air motors are also termed as pneumatic motors. In this motor, mechanical work is done by expanding compressed air. This type of motor usually transmutes the compressed air energy to mechanical work through either rotary or linear motion. They can operate in any position and in both directions, clockwise and anti-clockwise. Air motors are continuously cooled by the supplied air expansion, which prevents it from heating even at high speed. Due to such advantages their application is very flexible over a wide range. Such qualities of the air motors have low initial cost and very low operating cost, thus initiating the adoption for various applications in small-scale operations as well.
