The nano therapy is referred to as a branch of nanomedicine, which is involved in the use of nanoparticles to deliver a drug to a given target location in the body for the treatment of the disease through a process known as targeting. It has gained better popularity as compared to other conventional methods as it promises to give high precision when it comes to administering therapeutic formulations. In the process of nano therapy, the carrier drug is protected from the degradations, that allows it to reach the given target cells in the body for a local effect. The advantage with the nano therapy over the other therapies is that it offers targeted therapy in which the molecules are delivered to the affected cells in order to help in treatment of the disease that too without causing other negative effects to the healthy cells. The second advantage is that they have larger surface area which makes them possible for multiple functional group addition at the surface. In this, each of the functional group contributes to the effectiveness of this method of the therapy. Nanoparticles are designed in the way that allows the drug to remain adhered till it reaches target site or the cells. They are very much sensitive to the internal environment of the cancerous cells.

In September 2019, the new anti-cancer nanomedicine useful for targeted cancer chemotherapy was developed by three partner researchers namely Finland’s University of Helsinki, Abo Akademi University and China’s Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
